Why we're here

Our neighbours need us now.

Wildfires are burning across the Okanagan Valley. More than 20,000 residents were forced from their homes, hundreds of homes have been lost, and entire communities face an uncertain road ahead.

The fires have touched the valley from Summerland in the south to the Vernon area in the north. Recovery will take months or even years — and it starts with our neighbours knowing they are not facing it alone.

BC business has always stepped up in times of need. Let's come together once again to support our neighbours today — and help them rebuild for tomorrow.

South Okanagan Similkameen Community Foundation of the South Okanagan Similkameen Community Foundation of the South Okanagan Similkameen

Administers the SOS Wildfire Response Fund, working with regional and municipal officials and local service providers to identify needs and support affected households, businesses and community organizations across the South Okanagan and Similkameen — including Summerland, Faulder and Penticton.

Central Okanagan Central Okanagan Foundation — empowering generations to give Central Okanagan Foundation

Works with regional and municipal officials and local service providers to identify needs and support affected households, businesses and community organizations across the Central Okanagan. Communities include Peachland, West Kelowna, Kelowna and Lake Country.

North Okanagan Community Foundation North Okanagan — 50 years Community Foundation North Okanagan

Works with regional districts and local service providers to identify needs and support affected households and community organizations across the North Okanagan — including Vernon and surrounding areas, including OKIB.

Together, these three foundations cover the whole valley — so wherever the need is greatest, your gift can reach it.

Every dollar is directed by people who live here.

Funds are allocated in collaboration with regional districts and local service providers, then distributed through community partners with direct connection to the situation on the ground.

When evacuees at a reception centre needed fuel to keep moving, the foundation purchased gas cards through a vetted local partner and delivered them the same day. That is how this works — practical, local, and efficient.

Donations are managed and distributed by organizations with deep roots in these communities.

Where your money goes

No mystery about the overhead.

A 2% administrative fee covers donation processing, granting, financial oversight and reporting. Everything else flows directly into community response and recovery.

Charitable receipts are issued by CFSOS for every gift.
